Description
Black Pyramid Salt by Ankerkraut is a Fleur de Sel with a deep black color. In the Ruhr area it is also called "gold mine" salt because it looks like little lumps of coal. The method of processing is similar to that of the black Hawaiian salt: the activated carbon, which is responsible for the black color is derived from coconuts. After the Fleur de Sel is harvested by hand, it is treated with charcoal and dried a second time in the sun.
